Step aboard in Jyväskylä Harbour and spend a summer afternoon on Lake Päijänne aboard the more than 120-year-old steamship s/s Suomi! This three-hour lunch cruise takes you through the beautiful archipelago of northern Lake Päijänne, past numerous summer cottages and lush green islands.
Launched in 1906, s/s Suomi is the largest passenger steamship operating on Finland’s inland waters – and cruising Lake Päijänne aboard a steamship more than 120 years old is an unforgettable experience in itself! During the cruise, you can discover more than a century of the ship’s history in the exhibition on board or head out on deck to enjoy the surrounding lake scenery.

Our steam engineer will be happy to tell you about s/s Suomi and how its steam engine continues to power the ship to this day. You are also welcome to visit the captain on the bridge – please remember to ask the captain for permission before entering.
A highlight of the cruise is our generous Lunch Buffet, a long-time favourite among our guests. Prepared in the ship’s own kitchen, the lunch can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace in the restaurant – without missing out on the beautiful lake views while you dine! The dining experience is complemented by our carefully selected wine list, updated annually.
Guests who have booked lunch will have seats reserved in the restaurant for the duration of their meal. Please note that when there are many diners on board, lunch may be served in several sittings.
s/s Suomi also has a café and bar. At the café, you can purchase coffee, pastries, ice cream and other treats, while the bar offers refreshing drinks to enjoy, for example, out on deck.
