Travel aboard m/s Suomen Suvi from Jyväskylä to Kuusaa Canal and back, enjoying beautiful lake and countryside scenery along the way. The landscape changes from lush lakeshores to narrow waterways and idyllic rural surroundings. Highlights of the journey include three canal locks, where you can watch up close as the ship rises and lowers with the water level while travelling from one lake to another. We’ll stop at Kuusaa Canal for approximately one hour, giving you plenty of time to stretch your legs and explore the beautiful surroundings. With a bit of luck, you might even spot some white-water rafters in action! During the stop, you can pop into Kuusaa Koskikahvio café or explore Varjola resort, located just a short walk from the canal. On the return journey, we also stop at Saraakallio, where you can admire one of Finland’s largest collections of Stone Age rock paintings directly from the ship’s deck. The oldest paintings are even older than the Egyptian pyramids!

Our generous lunch buffet, freshly prepared in the ship’s own kitchen, features Finnish flavours and fresh seasonal ingredients. The ship’s restaurant offers beautiful lake views from every seat through its large windows, while the spacious sun deck is the perfect place to enjoy a summer day with a cold drink or an ice cream. You can also purchase wines, refreshing cocktails, coffee, and sweet and savoury treats from the fully licensed restaurant.

A full day on board or just part of the journey? The choice is yours! You can travel the entire route from Jyväskylä to Kuusaa Canal and back, or plan your own summer outing using the various stops along the way. 🚲 Bicycles are also welcome on board for an additional fee, making it easy to combine your boat trip with a cycling excursion through the beautiful Central Finnish lake scenery.

Did you know that the Keitele Canal is a 45-kilometre waterway connecting Lake Päijänne and Lake Keitele? Along the canal route, there are five canal locks and six lakes, with a total difference in water levels of over 21 metres! Together with Lake Päijänne, the Keitele Canal forms part of a continuous waterway stretching over 400 kilometres from Lahti all the way to Viitasaari and Pielavesi.
