Vääksy Canal is full of life and charm in summer, and this cruise begins right in the heart of it, as you board m/s Suomen Neito directly from the Vääksy Canal Lock. The ship picks up passengers at 10:30 from the café side of the lock, and then the journey towards Heinola begins!
Along the way, enjoy the beautiful summer scenery of two lakes, Lake Päijänne and Lake Ruotsalainen, and experience the Kalkkinen Canal. Did you know that the 500-metre-long lock at Kalkkinen Canal is the longest freshwater canal lock in Europe? We arrive in Heinola at 13:30, and after a half-hour stop at the harbour, Suomen Neito begins the return journey towards Vääksy.
During the cruise, you can enjoy a generous and delicious lunch buffet prepared in the ship’s own kitchen. You can choose to have lunch either on the outbound journey from Vääksy to Heinola or on the return journey from Heinola to Vääksy – please let us know your preference when making your booking. The buffet features Finnish flavours and locally sourced ingredients, complemented by our carefully selected wine list, which is updated annually. You can also purchase coffee, pastries, ice cream and other treats, as well as refreshing drinks from the ship’s restaurant. On the sun decks of Suomen Neito, you can enjoy a relaxing summer day and beautiful lake scenery throughout the journey!
Combine your cruise with a cycling trip! 🚲 Instead of taking the entire Vääksy–Heinola–Vääksy cruise, you can travel by ship in one direction and cycle the other way. You can bring your bicycle on board for an additional €10 – a great way to create your own summer adventure!
